upmystreet.org is built on a simple principle: we don't track you.

No cookies

We don't set any cookies. No session cookies, no tracking cookies, no "cookie consent" banners. There's nothing to consent to.

No analytics

We don't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other analytics service. No UTM parameters. No fingerprinting. No ad networks. No data is shared with any third party.

No accounts required

The site works without signing in. There are no user accounts, no profiles, no email collection.

Server logs

Our web server keeps standard access logs for debugging and operational monitoring. These logs include IP addresses and requested URLs. Postcodes in URLs are deleted from logs after 24 hours. We retain only aggregate sector-level statistics (e.g. "how many requests for SW1A postcodes") for capacity planning.

Maps

Maps are rendered client-side using MapLibre GL JS. Map tiles, styles, fonts, and all map assets are served entirely from our own servers using OpenStreetMap data — no requests go to Google, Mapbox, or any other third-party provider.

Error reporting

JavaScript errors are reported to our own server for debugging. No personal data is included in error reports.

Conversations (future feature)

When we launch our local conversations feature, it will be pseudonymous. No postcode verification will be required. Conversations will be moderated to maintain a constructive environment.
